Bhagawan says “The end of Education is Character” and “True Education is not for mere living, but for a fuller and meaningful life”.

Education has two aspects; the first is related to external and worldly education, which is nothing but acquiring bookish knowledge. The second aspect is known as Educare, is related to human values. The word Educare means to bring out that which is within.

Practically, educare refers to all educational programmes of teaching aimed at helping humanity draw out the qualities of goodness inherent in man, and to understand the inner makeup of a human being in relation to the outer physical world, in order to keep a perfect balance.

Sri Sathya Sai Educare therefore refers to a whole system of education which provides practical knowledge for educating for life and not just for earning a living.

The activities undertaken by the education wing include the following:

SAI SPIRITUAL EDUCATION (S.S.E)

“Children are the pillars on which the foundation of the nation’s future is built. They are the roots of the national tree, which has to give the fruits of work, worship and wisdom to the next generation.” – Sri Sathya Sai Baba

The Sathya Sai Education program began in India in 1969, with Bal Vikas classes. Bal Vikas means the blossoming of the child, and it was initiated by Sathya Sai Baba as spiritual education for the children of Sai devotees. The program later became known as Sathya Sai Spiritual Education (SSE). Here the life and teachings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba is an important module of the programme which is only done in all Sai Centres.

The Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) model is an inspirational model not an instructive one.

The Aim of Sai Spiritual Education or Bal Vikas is:

To foster character development and spiritual transformation.
To inculcate habits of discipline and self-discipline so that students learn to be masters, rather than slaves, of the mind and thus have absolute control over the sense organs.
To cultivate in children a desire to be of service to all humanity by helping them learn about life and the teachings of Swami.
To cultivate humility, practice ceiling on desires, and render selfless service.
To train them to be able to discriminate between right and wrong, between truth and non-truth; that is to always follow the inner promptings of the Divine.
To help children be fully aware of the Unity underlying all faiths and all mankind.
To guide all children to have purity and harmony in Thought, Word and Deed.
To help children realize their conscience and follow that as the path for attaining Divinity.
To give priority to the development of character, self-confidence and self-sufficiency.
To foster the understanding and practice of the five inherent human values of Truth, Righteousness, Peace, Love and Non-Violence.

EDUCATION IN HUMAN VALUES (EHV)

Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV) is a multi-cultural, multi faith self development programme for children and young people all over the world. It is a simple educational tool designed to help develop positive values in the young so that children become fit for life rather than just fit for earning a good living.

The SSEHV programme is designed to help young people to be in touch with their own feelings and nurture awareness of the qualities within themselves which form good character and behaviour.

This is a beautiful programme to help each individual to understand the basic values love, peace, truth, right conduct and non violence which is in all of us and also helps in character building.

This program is for non-Sai devotees, of all ages, to acquire a better foundation to understand the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, without actually focusing on them. This program is structured in such a way that what is learned in them can be taught anywhere, to anyone, by anyone. It must be noted here that Sai devotees also take part in this program, as a refresher course and also to learn how to take the message of human values into the community.

VALUE PARENTING

Dynamic Parenting is a highly interactive program designed to enhance parenting skills and thereby strengthen family relationships. The program is based upon the integration of five universal Human Values of Truth, Right Conduct, Peace, Love and Nonviolence into daily family life. The Dynamic Parenting workshops give parents the opportunity to turn theory into practice by asking them to become aware of their own and their child’s developmental needs. The program provides parents with practical tools to develop self-confidence, self-direction, love, and selfless motives and creates an awareness of what actions make the family strong and peaceful. The results are increased awareness of parenting styles, stronger spousal bond and family, and a more loving atmosphere in the home.

Education is the latent treasure of mankind. It is our only friend and teacher of teachers; such education is alone worthy of worship. Students must strive to free the countrymen from their lack of spiritual education.

Admission Criteria for SSE Program

Success of the SSE Program depends on Triple Partnership between Parents, Students and the Gurus (teachers) where parents, children and gurus are all actively involved and working towards the same goal.

All three elements are needed for the program to work effectively.

Role of the Parents

To watch their children’s company.
To be examples for their children by living out Swami’s teachings in the home.
Commit to regular attendance of their children, participation in SSE programs and center events.
To practice the 9 Points Code of Conduct.

Role of the Children

To attend weekly classes, and bhajans with a loving attitude.
To follow Swami’s teachings both inside and outside the Centre.
To communicate with their parents, gurus and peers.

Role of the Gurus

Daily preparation as per the Guru’s guidelines.
To communicate with parents with regards to the children’s progress.
To prepare classes as per the SSE curriculum.

SSE Program engages the five teaching techniques propagated by Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Deep spiritual concepts and their applicability to daily life at the level of the child are taught in an engaging way through
